TO LUPE: people please don't look at what he said because if you look at the rest of the reviews you'll see that he must be talking about something else because this place is not like that. I'm going to try to get my daughter in, and will be calling. So far I'll give it five stars unless we see different.

I lived there from 2009 to 2011. A lifesaver. Not the same now I've heard. Chris took me in and I was helped. Was homeless, now own my home.

I have had the opportunity and special experience to work with this wonderful organization that has been helping people since 1967. I have enjoyed the privilege and honor of being asked to serve as Chairman/President of Alco's BOD beginning in 2017 and I am impressed on a daily basis at the fine work that the team at Alco House led by such dedicated and fine folks including Doug Jones (Executive Director), Angel Martin (House Manager) and Sabrina Bailey (Accounting Manager).

Their daily commitment to excellence along with the day to day efforts of the rest of the staff leave me in awe. These are special people that exemplify the unconditional love and tolerance required to deliver care to each and every Alco House client.

Obviously, when being in any type of "multiple personality" type of living situation there are going to be conflicts of opinion, beliefs, and character... That being said, I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE SERIOUSLY WANTING TO CHANGE THEIR LIVES IN A POSITIVE MANNER WHILE ACTIVELY WORKING A PROGRAM OF RECOVERY! There is a multitude of choices throughout this city of Jacksonville. Not all have the same concepts, and structure that one is looking for, so always do your homework before making a choice.

While I have only been here for a couple of days total, I have been EXTREMELY satisfied with the structure, yet freedom that I am getting here! Everyone at the house is working towards the common goal of recovery, and helps each-other to stay on track! The immediate "staff" that one will see on a daily basis, and work with directly are all in recovery, have sponsors, have a working knowledge of the steps, and are always willing to help out in any way possible!

Again, I would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting recovery!

What can I say about Alco house... this place has saved my life!! As of right now I'm the youngest person in the house and I couldn't ask for any better staff to have by Mysore for this journey that I am going on.. this is my very first time being in a 12 step program and Alco has adjusted me to the life style and the way of living thats been my main goal throughout my addiction... Alco house has taught me that I don't have to use drugs or alcohol to have fun or do normal things... the new Executive Director (Doug Jones) was one of the best things at has happened to the house since I've been here. Hes taken over and done a wonderful job so far. I can't wait to see what's in the future for Alco.

I love this place. The work they do is amazing, and I enjoy going for a home cooked meal in the snack bar sometimes because I would rather my money go where it counts. The meetings are worth it, the people are great, and food and service is awesome.
